Why does human body need Vitamin A?

Why does human body need Vitamin A?

The word ‘health’ which means the state of ‘well being’ was derived from the old English word ‘health’. It generally indicates a soundness of the human physic. An individual should acquire not only the physical soundness but should also remain in the emotional and mental soundness. One can be able to remain in a good health by controlling such factors- diet and nutrition, stress management, exercises etc. This is known to all that Vitamins, which belong to the diet and nutrition factors, though in a little quantity, are very much essential for accurate body function and proper growth. Vitamins are generally of two types-one is fat soluble (A, D, E, K) and other is water soluble (B and C).

As my topic is about the essential impacts of Vitamin A upon human health as well as body, I have to depict a detail depiction of this Vitamin. In 1913, this substance was detected by two American scientists; then in 1930, its structure was determined and later on the researchers have discovered that vitamin A does an important task regarding growth and reproduction.

Vitamin A comes in different forms from the foods which we usually take in our daily meal. These various types of forms can be divided into two categories- (1) Pre-formed vitamin A, which is often found in liver and butter (foods of animal origin) in the structure of retinal and (2) Pro-vitamin A. Both vitamins are fat soluble.

Source: Vitamin A can be found in dietary animal sources- liver, eggs, fish liver oils and dairy goods and also in some vegetable foodstuffs, such as deep-orange fruits, leafy and dark-green vegetables etc.

Important activities of Vitamin A: This vitamin is very much important for the growth and development of your body. Visual purple is a chemical, which is produced by vitamin A, helps you to see in faint beam. Tissue development, repairing and maintenance are also happened by it. Vitamin A performs a vital role in the creation of healthy epithelial cells. Vitamin A, which enhances antibody responses, stimulates the activity of different white blood cells (phagocytes and T helper cells).

Deficiencies: Vitamin A deficiency creates many disorders in our organic system such as night blindness, various kinds of skin difficulties, cirrhosis of the liver and decreases the resistance power.

We all are aware of the fact that health is a divine gift of God. Hippocrates had told- “let food be thy medicine; and let thy medicine be food”. So we should put this vitamin in our everyday balanced diets.
